100% Digital …. Are you ready?

Do you still have analog phone lines? Many people just carry cell phones, but if you have a house phone chances are it could be an analog line. You may not have a house phone, but if you have an alarm panel, or fax machine it could be on an analog line. Many small business are still using analog phone lines with multiline phones to conduct business.

It’s estimated that by 2017 the phone companies will do away with all analog lines. What will this mean for your home or business? How will you get service for your alarm system? You could use a cellular antenna, but when the service upgrades the lower service is no longer supported ( 2G to 3G, 3G to 4G). Some analog outs on digital service boxes don’t provide the correct amount of voltage for alarm panels to function right. An ethernet card is another way to go but just make sure you have battery backup on all the system equipment.

The NEC SL1100 can make your transition to the digital era seemless. It can incorporate your analog lines for now and with the addition of few upgrades it can be ready for the all digital transition.

Phone service is not the only thing that’s going all digital, TV service is as well. For all those people who still have over the air antennas or a cable feed with no top set box Cable companies are planning to move all channels to digital broadcast stations making it mandatory to use some sort of box to get even local channels and program guides. If you still have RG58 in your house you’ll need to upgrade the coax cable as well.
