I can’t be the only one who has noticed that crime all over San Pedro and the rest of Los Angeles County seems to be getting worse. Criminals are getting bolder and braver as residents and businesses are not keeping up with the latest surveillance and intrusion equipment. Just having old cameras in place is not going to cut it anymore. What good are the fake cameras or non-operational cameras going to do you when something goes down. Forget what you’ve seen on TV shows, the local police need good quality images in order to identify a suspect. Enlarging or blowing up low res images will only get you poor quality video that can’t be used in court. Having a high quality video of an incident goes a lot farther than just eye witnesses. neighborhoods that have an active surveillance system are more likely to get passed over as criminals don’t want to be recorded.
Crimes in San Pedro is not just limited to below Gaffey, crime is spreading all over and having a camera system that is visible to the outside world is a really good deterrent. Did you know that criminals call Manhattan Beach “The Treasure” because of the ease of theft. I don’t want that title or any other title that refers to San Pedro as an easy target.
